On my last visit to Portland Oregon I was amazed at the number of people drinking coffee. I mentioned it to a waitress and she explained that since the city didn't have an football team to cheer for the spent their time drinking coffee and reading books. Then I asked her if there was anyplace we could find a siphon coffee maker bar and she'd never heard of such a thing. Anyone else know where a good cup of vacuum coffee can be found in Portland?

I was given the base for a "Silex Glass Cofee Maker", that is working and looks good. one spot is fexed in a little but no creases are in the chrome bowl that the glass part sits in. sadly there is no glass pot with it. the elactric cord that comes out is clothe covered blacl with white bands and the plug reads "BELDEN". can you tell me what year it it is from? I'd like to find a home for it. I'm not looking to sell it just fnd someon who may have an extra pot and can use this. ofcourse I would be very happy to accept postage cost. if anyone has any advice please feel free to email me. thanks..Bill
